What some other people describe as "targeted following" (follow people that might like your content) is actually just a tedious and borderline spammy task. Either you do this, pay people for shoutouts, spam hashtags, or do contests. But something has to be done to build an initial audience to try stuff.
Now after experimenting with different types of content and finding something our audience likes, other people are flowing in by themselves. Worth it!
